Jessica Townsend

Jessica TownsendJessica Townsend is a gifted young singer / songwriter who has already achieved much. Some of the highlights include singing the national anthem at numerous events such as Olympic Torch Ceremony at celebrations for the Gold Medallist women’s water polo team, World Title and international boxing matches at the Brisbane Convention Centre, the Penny Silks Memorial Surf Competition and the Fisher Community Australia Day Awards, where she was also awarded a Young Achiever’s Award, for musical talents and contribution to community events. In 2002 Jessica also won Best Actress in a Musical at the Sunshine Coast Theatre Alliance’s Star Awards for playing Eponine in Les Miserables. Jessica has also performed at many high profile corporate and radio station events as lead singer in a trio called Flirt.

Flirt began working with award-winning producer Duncan Wood but as other members fell away, Duncan believed Jessica had what it took to forge a successful solo career and encouraged Jessica to cultivate her songwriting skills. Jessica began co-writing with him and this collaboration has created a style and sound that is completely her own.

After a sabbatical in the UK, Jessica is now home in Australia and back in the studio with Duncan. Her exciting debut album will be released in March / April this year and she will join label-mates Dane Sharp, Caroline Taylor-Knight and Danny Mayers and Duncan Wood and the Touchwood band for the Come Together Tour throughout 2010.
